Zakynthos, one of the most beautiful and well-known islands of Greece, is located in the Ionian Sea.
In October 1980, the ship “Panagiotis,” also known as the Shipwreck, was found on a beach of the island. This event marked the beginning of the island's rise to fame both within Greece and internationally.
The ship ran aground due to poor weather conditions, and the crew took refuge in a nearby village.
